This month, I celebrate 9 years in business! (Woot! Woot!)
Looking back, I am so incredibly grateful for all the hours I’ve spent with clients - writing marketing content, updating websites, building packages, working on brand development, talking through our blocks and fears, and discovering new ways to use social media together.
In early 2023, I went back through my “From The Nest Archives”, the branded print materials I’ve kept in a manila folder since the start of my business in 2014. Browsing through, it was fun to reflect on the visual evolution of my own business, and I found myself giving myself the same advice I often give to others - maybe it’s time to evolve again?
When I launched my own business in 2014 (and clearly excited to get going right away), I decided to reach out to a friend to design me a logo based on my name. At this point in my business, I wasn’t quite sure who I was, what I did, or what I wanted to represent.
What I did know was that I’m drawn to bright colors and bubbly fonts… thus, the first iteration of my logo!
About a year later, I began to think I needed a bit more personality in my logo, so I found another friend and asked if he could incorporate my love of Wonder Woman into the logo somehow. And voila! Logo #2 was born.
(I even fully embraced this idea with a cartoon version of myself… oh, my.)
As another year passed and I worked with different types of clients, I discovered a LOT more about my own core values, what makes me successful at what I do, and why it is so important to communicate those values and qualities within my visual brand.
Instead of using my name as my brand, I decided to listen to the (very loud) voice inside my head that kept saying, “You show people how to safely get out of their comfort zone, feel more courageous, and take a much-needed leap from the nest. From the nest. From the nest.”
And so it was. The “From The Nest” name and logo #3 came to life!
And it was used for many years….. until…
While working with a client, I had the pleasure of building a wonderful friendship with my colleague and talented branding guru, Michelle Gorenstein. Fueled by our conversations, I was inspired once again to take a closer look at the “From The Nest” visual brand to see if it still aligned with my personality and values. It was clear - while the logo worked just fine for a long time, it no longer looked and felt like it had energy - it seems stiff and subdued and I, most certainly, am not!
When it came time to refresh my brand in 2023, I knew Michelle would “get me” and offer honest, clear suggestions for amping things up a notch. In addition to the advice, she offered her design skills, and the resulting logo is a beautiful twist on the original brand (with even more color and sparkle)!
BEHOLD! My new logo:
Let’s just say - I am one happy camper. Isn’t she bright and gorgeous? And so much more “me”!
I can’t thank you enough, Michelle, for your guidance and support through this rebranding process.
I also send HUGE appreciation to the clients I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the last 9 years. While I am often hired to help people with their marketing and social media efforts, I have personally received so much in return as a result of our relationships. It warms my heart each time someone has a breakthrough, posts that (dreaded) post they’ve avoided for so long, or shares a vulnerable thought with me. I am honored to be a part of your journey.
So - cheers to the next 9 years. And cheers to the ah-ha moments!
❤️~Abbie
