A New Year (oh, wait - a new decade!) is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to clean up your files, purge all the old junk, and start making space for everything you’re going to do in 2020. Instead of getting bogged down with phone storage issues and piles of emails that will drain your energy and hold you back, take some time this New Year to tackle these four tasks - just consider it “self care” time!
Move your photos off your phone and onto your computer. Simply plug your phone charging cord into the USB port on your computer and VOILA! (Then it will be time to organize into folders…) While it may seem like a daunting task, getting those photos off your phone will be totally worth it. You’ll save storage space so you’ll have plenty of room to collect new memories AND you’ll have tons of social media content all in one place - your computer! Note: I strongly recommend tackling this task while listening to your favorite podcast or sipping on a glass of wine.
Clean up your inbox. Turn on some funky music and spend some time deleting old emails, unsubscribing to junk emails you no longer wish to receive, and “emptying” your SPAM folder and your Trash folder. It’s gonna feel soooooo good!
Edit your contact list(s). Sort through the contacts in your phone, your email, and your email lists and “get rid of” contacts that are no longer relevant in your life. I know, I know! It sounds harsh, but when you clear out the old, you make room for new connections in your life! (Wine helps with this one, too.)
Organize your desk. Take 30 minutes to wipe down your computer screens, file away those stacks of paper, and start a shred pile for files and sticky notes that are obsolete. Collect all those stray business cards and place them into a container, and make it your next 2020 goal to connect with all of those lost contacts on LinkedIn.
